Abstract(s)
This paper aims at healing the terminological split concerning the concept of root. Two different notions of root exist in literature, the one actual the other virtual. The former refers to its use by Indo-European scholars; the latter is probably the most widespread in the heterogeneous scenery of the contemporary linguistics. Such a split clearly appears when studying Classical languages with the help of terminologies and methodologies of the most recent linguistic frameworks. The necessity of taking into account the relevant traditional-comparative literature urges us to mend the gash. To this end we will propose some remarks arisen from a previous analysis of deverbal nouns in Ancient Greek.
