Abstract(s)
Meetings with Dr. Stanislav Tesař in his positions of a secretary in the Czech Music Society, of a director in the Czech Museum of Music and that of a university teacher at Faculties of Arts, Palacký University in Olomouc and Masaryk University in Brno, are presented in this commemorative contribution of the author. The focus is on organizational and specialist achievements of Dr. Tesař in establishing the Society of Vítězslav Novák as an association of the Czech Music Society, 1980, and in related activities. Dr. Tesař had also a large share in organizing directly the music educational conferences held at the Faculty of Education in Nitra in 1984, 1986, 1988 and 1989, effective in the former Czechoslovakia. The conferences involved music education of young people, music teacher training at universities as well as music textbooks and curriculum at basic schools. Dr. Tesař worked as a director in the Czech Museum of Music in Prague, 1990–1996. In this position he arranged the definitive relocation of the museum into the present-day house in Karmelitská Street, Prague, Malá Strana. Museum activities inspired him to hold specialized musicology conferences in Olomouc. Correspondence as a musicology problem in view of methodology, cataloguing sources and relating activities were the topics of the conferences. Dr. Tesař specialized as a musicologist in questions of medieval hymnology, which he still deals with; he presented the concepts and intensions also in public at the respective conference in Olomouc.
