The text entitled Odysea jednoho vědeckého díla (An Odyssey of a Science Project) aims to explain selected circumstances of the creation of the monograph Výroční obyčeje a lidové umění (Annual Observances and Folk Art) that was originally to have been published in 1948. However, delays with the publication schedule, change of publishing house, and mandatory editing resulted in the book not being published until 1959 (as some changes were requested and as its name was changed from the original Kořeny lidového umění (The Roots of Folk Art) to Lidové umění a lidový obřad (Folk Art and Folk Ceremonies)).
