Description
The essay deals with the Eastern-European interpretations of postmodern literature. It compares studies from Hungarian, Slovak and Czech literary historical studies concerning a couple of topics, focusing rather on the differences than the similarities. It flashes light on what critical discussive positions have been formed towards postmodernism in the above mentioned three literary discources, which Western theories have had the biggest approach shaping impact in this area, and refers to the issues of literary history periodization too. Finally it emphasizes the influence of post-communist social, political, and cultural conditions on the establishment of the particular aspect of Central-European literatures that deviate from Western models.
