Abstract(s)
In the last decades human and social scientists have become increasingly interested in linguistically and philosophically oriented approaches to the analysis of pictures. This has led to a growing frequency of language-based technical terms such as 'Bildakt' ('pictorial act'), 'Bildmetapher' ('pictorial metaphor') or 'Bildlinguistik' ('pictorial linguistics'). This article analyzes the verbal structure of this type of terminology and discusses its advantages and disadvantages from an epistemiological point of view.
