Abstract(s)
The study follows the professional career of Professor Jaroslav Pešina (1912–1992) between his doctorate and retirement. Pešina was a prominent expert on medieval studies and a renowned figure in Czech art history of the second half of the 20th century. Based on archival documents and interpretations of his publications, the study explains Pešina's role as a typical example of a Communist party member-scholar in the environment of the political changes of World War II, the Third Republic, Stalinism, the Prague Spring, and Normalization.
