Popis
The archive of the village Sebranice, situated near Boskovice and for centuries belonging to the Kunštát rule (West Moravia), is deposited in the Blansko Region Record Office, Boskovice subsidiary. Compared to archives of other Moravian villages, it contains an unprecedented number of archival documents dating from the end of the 17th and the first half of the 18th century. The fact that in the mid-l8th century the village was inhabited by about 550 people, resembling thus a small town, only emphasises the importance of the extant archival corpus. This entry intends to present selected texts from this collection whose informational value would be appreciated not only by the researchers interested in this village or its environs but by everyone looking for comparative sources for the studies of Czech or Moravian country in this period. Not only are the individual texts are concerned with topics such as the ways of country land tenancy, homestead transfers, or land disputes, and can in this way help with the construction of terms surrounding homesteads, land, its owners and their interrelations, in which the villages were mediators, but they shed light on other parts of the Sebranice villagers' culture.
