Abstract(s)
The study primarily focuses on the interculturalism in theatre and is, above all, based on Pavis's and Carlson's approach. Taking a concrete example – Malé divadlo kjógenu (The Little Theatre of Kyogen) – it points out the possible way in which distant cultures may interfere in theatre. Moreover, a theoretical reflection of this cultural "interference" is investigated, leading to a possible qualification of individual cases of such an intercultural exchange. The theoretical concepts in question are applied on a "double exchange" presented by a Czech performance based on the kyogen named Susugigawa; yet, the Japanese version itself has its origin in a French middle-age farce, La Farce du Cuvier.
