Slovenská próza má ve svém vývoji nejrůznější podoby - u Timravy je důsledně realistická, u Jégého inklinuje k naturalismu, u Rázuse směřuje k popisné obšírnosti a u Eudo Ondrejova se napájí z lyrických zdrojů. Na čtveřici těchto autorů se zaměřují následující řádky.
The four Slovak writers who this contribution is dedicated to represent different approaches to the depiction of reality. Timrava and Rázus embody the realistic line of Slovak literature, Jégé, on the contrary, its naturalistic line, whereas the youngest Ondrejov leans towards the lyrical stream.
