Abstract(s)
The contribution deals with a novel by Vladimir Sorokin Marina's Thirtieth Love and The Day of An Oprichnik. It does not pay attention to those author's procedures which evoked a negative attitude of critics, or, on the contrary, unexpected attitude of critics and readers to the text. Text analysis and interpretation are directed towards text strategy. Text strategy is caused by the author's view on unliterary reality in Russia which is included in the matter and themes, but primarily in the esthetics of the author's style. A literary character acts as a marionette and its role is decomposed into two plot lines: low - based on the flesh and unconventional stock orientation and high - intellectual, moral gradual awakening of the female character from the reality that she faces to a desired existence. A female character enables the author to express without any strain a dramatic encounter of the real and the expected in the society which does not respect its citizen.
