Abstract(s)
The author deals with the role of Jesus followers and early Christian groups and tries to define their specific features against the social, cultural and political scene of their time. Common features of Jesus' and the other Jewish reformers of Hellenistic and Roman period as well as the specific intention of Jesus tradition are being analyzed. A special paragraph (4) is devoted to a balanced hermeneutics of Easter. -- The social structure of Early Christianity (5) consciously avoided the social model of mystery religions in favour of a structure principally open to the wider public. This was also one of the reasons for the expulsion of Christians from tne synagogue. In the author's opinion the specific social role of Early Christianity is understandable only after a careful discussion of its theological traditions.
