Abstract(s)
My article is devoted to appraisal language means in Internet discussion-forums added to three You-Tube videos containing songs. There is assumed a minimal background in linguistic theory of the appraisal language. My article deals with Internet discussion-forums as a new form of conversation in rudimental form. These Forums seems to be a challenge not only for the research of evaluative language but for the conversation analysis too. The set of text-examples demonstrates the way language is used to evaluate, thus it explores how participators of this forums pass judgement on the singer ("author") or on the singing band or the song; on themes dealt in the song or more precisely in the video; on the formal side of the song or the video and on the art aspect of the song or the video. Lexical, grammatical and stylistic means of evaluation and examples of the "engagement" are provided in the practical part too. The conclusion of the analysis - Internet discussion-forums are evaluative, that's why many evaluative means has been found in them.
