Description
For Czech lace-making, the sample books (modelbuchs) that spread all over Europe between the 15th and the 19th centuries were important sources of inspiration. In the Krušné hory mountains, lace-making derived much that was good, from its beginnings in the early 16th century, from the New Modelbuch sample book, compiled by an author known by the initials R. M. and first published by C. Froschauer in 1561. Traces of its influence can be found in lace produced in all the Czech lace-making centres during the 19th and 20th centuries. Apart from sample books, lace-making was influenced by its schools and sample books published for them, including Die Technik der Geklöppelten Spitze by C. Jammig and A. Richter, 1885.
