Abstract(s)
The discovery of two hitherto unknown paintings by the Viennese painter Michelangelo Unterberger (1695–1758) indicates that this prominent representative of Austrian Baroque painting from the circle of the Viennese Academy of Fine Arts also worked in the service of the Liechtenstein family. The newly attributed paintings, which are to be found in the church of St. Bartholomew in Hlohovec near Valtice and the Museum of the City of Česká Třebová, mean that Unterberger can be included in the circle of painters who had previously been identified as supplying paintings for the churches on the Liechtenstein estates in the Czech lands for Prince Joseph Wenzel von Liechtenstein (1696–1772).
