A theme of "the first Russian philosopher" Grigory Skovoroda, so vividly presented in the works of Vladimir Ern, his conception of Russian philosophy, as well as the problem of Kiev school become a subject of a specific elaboration in G. Florovsky's "Ways of Russian theology" (1937). As it follows from Florovsky's analysis, Ern's "first Russian philosopher" and, in the words of the same author, "the original Russian philosophy", seem to move in different directions.
