The paper discusses the topics of Czech translations and reception of Russian poetry in two recent centuries. Besides the attention to the distinctive features of Russian poetry in relation to its Czech translations and its contribution to world culture, it also draws attention to the irreplaceable contribution of Russian poetry to the contemporary dialogue of cultures in the cultural and social area of Middle Europe, i.e. in the context of contemporary not only philological, but also multicultural area studies, which are supported by the initiative of the researchers at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno.
