Zrození hradu : k technologii počáteční fáze nedokončeného hradu u Újezdu u Kunštátu

Abstract

Relikty nedokončeného hradu ( po roce 1258) u Újezda u Kunštátu vzácně dokládají postup při zakládání hradu, protože staveniště bylo opuštěno hned po ukončení zemních prací a před stavbou zděných konstrukcí. Ryze technicky jde o doklad dobře organizované práce pod dohledem fundátora. Skupina kopáčů prováděla zemní práce a přípravu staveniště. Po nich měli přijít zedníci a stavět zdi z kamene vylámaného ze šíjového příkopu. V západním příkopu zůstal jediný depot stavebního kamene.

Remains of an unfinished castle not far from the village of Újezd u Kunštátu present unique evidence of building progress during the initial phase of construction; the building site was, for reasons unknown, abandoned shortly after the completion of the basic ground-work, before the construction of walls. In terms of logistics, the work was well organised and probably supervised by an experienced surveyor. A large group of unskilled (and therefore cheap) labourers did the ground-work and what is now known as preparatory work on the site. Far more expensive specialists, with skills including firing lime and building in stone would have arrived subsequently. The labourers would quarry out a spine moat, directly supporting the stonemasons with quality stone for the castle rampart. The building site only contained a single indirect stock of building stone, in the west moat. The work could hardly have been organised better.
