The edition presents the translation of (the selection of) materials gathered in the only Czech village in Bulgaria – Vojvodovo by the Bulgarian ethnologist Vladimir Penčev during his first fieldwork in the village in May 1984. Materials consist of transcriptions of interviews by V. Penčev and his Vojvodovan informants and cover many topics from the history and ethnography of the Czech Vojvodovo community inhabiting the village in period 1900–1950. It is the fact that the generation of Penčev's informants from 1984 is already forever inaccessible, which makes Penčev's materials so valuable source – to such an extent that we present it (in an abridged version) as an edition. For better understanding of this source the edition is prefaced by an introductory note and supplemented by explanatory footnotes throughout.
