In June 2018 a survey for the name of the new train station in Brno was announced. The article analyses name proposals which were collected by the Brno municipality. Some proposals were serious, some humorous and provocative. We can see three main motivations. Firstly, there were honorific names after famous Czechs (e.g. Mendel's train station). Secondly, some proposals wanted to locate a new name on the map (e.g. Moravian train station) or in the Brno cultural background (e.g. the winner of the survey was Šalingrad – šalina means 'tram', it its typical appellative used in Brno). The third motivation was humorous because the most of proposers made fun of the whole survey. The name of the new train station will be chosen not by the Brno municipality but by the railway infrastructure administration (SŽDC).
