This text expands on the wider discussion concerning the metal subculture and the public debate it causes. In particular, the text introduces a case study which presents the public debate caused by the organization of the fifth annual metal festival Gothoom fest in Nová Baňa. The text analyses the points of view of those opposing and those who support the festival. The argumentation of those opposing the festival was concerned with the loudness of the festival and the potential abuse of human rights. Satanism, with which the metal subculture is often connected, also arose in the discussion. However, this was not seen as the main point of the argument.
