Abstract(s)
The present article analyses figural poetics of the well-known chronicle "The Cathedral Clergy" written by N. Leskov. In the article were recognised two central images of the bathing scene: the image of Ahilla Desnicyn and the Red Horse. Besides there were determined iconographic and pictorial ("Bathing of a Red Horse" K. Petrov-Vodkin) contexts of the image of the Red Horse in the bathing scene. Complicated synthesis of iconographic and pictorial image principles defines particular qualities of Leskov's poetics, which is at the same time holistic and contrasting. It is established that Leskov's figural poetics can be interpreted not only according to the laws of a verbal art, but also as a visual art.
