Abstract(s)
Buddhist traditions are often portrayed as exclusively exotic and pacifist. This article, which is designed as an introductory overview of the vast topics connected to the field of study of Buddhism and violence, focuses on the most common stereotypes, prejudices, and clichés that appear mainly in Western media and discourses. This text aims to debunk these long-held misconceptions by showing that violence in all known shapes and forms is an integral part of the world, including that of the Buddhists.
