Abstract(s)
This text attempts to show that metal is an interesting research area not only for metal studies but also for the contemporary study of religions. It describes three main approaches to the study of metal (as a specific part of popular culture) and religion(s): 1) religions in metal 2) metal as a religion 3) public discussion about metal related to religion. All these approaches to the study of the relationship between metal and religion are specifically demonstrated in the area "metal and Satanism."
