Svět mezi řádky : prolegomena k výzkumu Čapkovy cestopisné tvorby

The study analyzes several aspects of Čapek's travelogues: presentation of the space that is constructed as a system of archetypal universals (e.g. the mountain, the house, the sea, the city) and time that complements the first category. The goal is to provide an original interpretation of Čapek's travelogues with the use elements of archetypal criticism and it is focused on symbolic dimensions in Čapek's travelogues. Disclosing several mechanisms of depiction, perception and grasping the world allows having a broad view on the author's philosophical and artistic out–looks, though the narrator cannot be identified with the author himself. Čapek's travelogues can be regarded as a significant, although sometimes underestimated part of Čapek's literary heritage.
