The Wallachian Open-Air Museum in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm houses a large collection of the Wallachian ceremonial scarves known as úvodnice. Head-scarves as artefacts in traditional folk clothing stirred the interest of both private collectors and the founders of the museum. In the course of the eighty years of its existence, the museum has gathered 69 Wallachian úvodnice scarves, most of them from the Rožnovsko region, as well as some from Vsetínsko and Valašsko-meziříčsko areas. The style of individual scarves is influenced by several factors: the material available and location of manufacture, the age and skill of the creator and, probably, input from the individual women who wore them as well. This contribution sets out to present the museum collection as a whole, as only selected pieces have previously been published in specialist literature and showcased at exhibitions.
