Description
This paper focuses on the Hungarian reception of the collected writings of Jan Mukařovský published recently in Hungary by the Kalligram Publishers seated in Bratislava and Budapest (Szemiológia és esztétika. Kalligram, Pozsony, 2007, ed. Krisztián Benyovszky, translated by Márton Beke and Krisztián Benyovszky). The author provides a survey of the reviews of the book and attempts to unveil its current context in Hungarian literary theory. It can be assumed that the publication has appeared with a significant delay but its topical character can be still found above all in the studies dealing with general semiotics of culture, interdisciplinary issues and even questions that focus on fields beyond art.
