Abstract(s)
Hĺbkové stavebno-historické výskumy (1979 a 2006) a najnovšie archívne poznatky dokumentujú v jadre objektu stredoveký hrádok, ktorého vznik je možné určiť do 14. storočia.
The castle in the village of Ostratice, Topoľčany district, Slovakia has been catalogued, until now, as a renaissance building with baroque modifications. However, profound building and historical research (1979 and 2006) and the latest archive searches have revealed a medieval castle dating from the 14th century at the core of the construction. Before 1445, the castle was converted into a fortalicium (stronghold) by the Hussite Brethren, as is documented by finds of rows of embrasures and archive sources. Until the 18th century, the building with a tower served as a fortified settlement against Turkish invasions. The stronghold character of the building was altered completely by empire reconstruction of the frontages.
